cortisone
| July 19th, 2008 at 11:47 |A friend of mine’s son’s brain tumor is back. He’s in the hospital with days to a week to live. It’s very sad but I can’t help but think it will almost be a relief for them. It’s been a long time that they’ve had to deal with his illness. Maybe that makes me a monster, though.
Another friend of mine just had surgery for cancer on Thursday.
Kaity said, “Things happen in threes! Are you feeling okay?”
“Well, my shoulder’s still bothering me?”
“OH NOES IT IS OSTEOSARCOMA!!!1″
Well, she didn’t quite say it like that, but I knew what she meant. I laughed but then I immediately made (yet another) phone call to the doctor’s office and said, “Look, I will take anything you’ve got.” And since he’s on vacation next week, I took an appointment on Friday morning.
I’ve been sure that something is torn, so I was fully expecting him to order an MRI, but he didn’t. He thinks it’s tendonitis. He tried pushing on some pressure points (specifically one in my neck that nearly made me pass out), and then decided to give me a cortisone shot (that came, well, let’s say MUCH CLOSER to making me pass out :|). Dear God. But if it really makes things feel better in 24-48 hours, and lasts for weeks like he says it will, it just might be worth it.
It might be. If it ever stops aching from the shot. Fuuuuck.
