- Remove all the books off the bookshelf.
- Swivel the bookshelf 90 degrees to access the Box Room
- Take the air conditioner out of the Box Room and lug it across the apartment.
- Put the air conditioner in the bedroom window, worry that it will fall out the back.
- Realize the window fillers that come with the air conditioner are too big to fill the space between the window frame and the air conditioner.
- Remember that last year you had to use the curtain to fill in the space between the A/C and the window frame, and repeat.
- Plug in the A/C and start closing up windows.
- Notice when you close the window in the living room that the Christmas tree is still up. I have tunnel vision, okay? If it’s not directly in the way of what I want to do, I’m not going to notice it.
- Take the Christmas tree down and put it in the Box Room.
- Take the grill, grill tongs, meat thermometer/grill fork, charcoal, and fire extinguisher out of the Box Room.
- Put all the cat furniture into the Box Room.
- Put the luggage in the Box Room.
- Turn the bookshelf 90 degrees back in front of the Box Room, then reload all the books.
- Start to care that the books aren’t in the same order they were in before, but then realize that you don’t.
- Strip down and enjoy naked A/C for a few minutes, before it’s time to go back to work.

But they’ll be a productive 3 weeks.
And yes, it’s messy. I don’t care. No one sees it.
