Also from Home Depot (but not available for picture-stealing) were a pine 1×2, a box of #8 2″ screws and a tape measure that seemed to just magically appear in the basket.

I only got black for now. After I get the hang of everything, I’ll get more colors. I have a few in my wishlist already.
For making the screen. I probably could have just bought any kind of meshy material at Joann’s, but I wanted to be sure that if things went wrong, it was for reasons I knew about. This way, I get a feel for what the silk should be like, and I can substitute when I have more knowledge about the subject.
